L-Tek Homemade Handlebar
So my son bought an L-Tek pad but no handlebar, so I did some research and borrowed from another design and created the platform and handlebar for the L-Tek.
I know many people are buying L-Tek pads so I want to share my design.
I borrowed a lot of design ideas from dave eddy.. Thanks Dave
Here are the design elements.
Frame Made of 2x4's

- 1 x 2 strips to hold l-tek in place
- 1 x 12 x 35.5 x 1/2 (cut from 4x8 plywood)

- 1 1/2 inch screws to hold it together
- Elmers glue to bind each board together

I bought the pipe from Lowes. I bought one long 10' piece and had them cut it into 3 pieces with threads to create the handlebar, which saved me some money.
Directions
- Assemble the handlebar. Make sure to tighten everything as tight as you can and make sure to be careful with the threads. They can slice you up.
- Build the main plywood frame by cutting a piece 46.5 x 35.5 x 1/2 from the 4x8 plywood sheet
- Cut the 1 x 2 pieces as follows : Cut the pieces on either side to fit in between the brackets on the end (see diagrams)
- Cut the front piece in one long and one short section to create a gap for the USB port
- Create a piece from the plywood 1/2 x 12 x 35.5 for the back
- Secure it all together with the 1 1/2 screws
- Drill holes about the same size and Use long Carriage bolts to secure the handlebar.
- Note : Position the bar so it is comfortable for the player. In my case it was about 5 inches from the back. Now cut the 2 x 4 to these dimensions 8 x (2.x.4x13) 3 x (2 x 4 x 46.5) . Note 2x4 are actually 1.5x3.5) I would measure when against the frame you have already built to get exact measurements)
- NOTE : use Elmers glue to secure each piece together
The handlebar assembled before building the frame.

I built it initially without the same, but it was very wiggly, so I added the 2x4 frame afterwards.

The design calls for pieces in between which I ended up not adding in.
